Obituary of Peggy Irene Kobey

Peggy Irene Kobey, 83, of Viera, FL, passed away February 14, 2024.

Peggy was born in New Malden, Surrey, England, on March 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruby Wise. She had four older sisters and a younger brother.

After finishing school, Peggy worked as a hairdresser in New Malden, where she met an American lady who had a young daughter. Peggy was invited to Boston, USA, to look after the little girl.

It was there that she met a young soldier who was on a 30-day leave next door, visiting his parents, on his way to Germany. He left for Germany and Peggy,a fter stopping in England, followed him to Germany.

They wanted to get married right away, but found that they ahd to satisfy German authorities, then the American authorities, and then the British authorities. This whole process took about five months.

When they departed Germany, Dave was stationed in Maryland, and then departed for Officer Candidate School in Oklahoma. Peggy stayed with her parents in England during this time. Then David went to Vietnam. Peggy stayed with his parents in Boston during this time, after which they returned to Oklahoma (yet again), then bakc to Germany (again), then back to Oklahoma (yet again again). 

They then moved to New Jersey, then to Virginia, and then to Connecticut. 

After nineteen years in Connecticut, Peggy and Dave relocated to Indian River Colony Club in Viera, FL in 2004.

Peggy was involved in many activities, but managed to sing with various groups wherever she was.

Visitation will be held from 10:00AM - 11:00AM, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 with funeral services beginning at 11:00AM - Beckman Williamson Funeral Home 5400 Village Dr Viera, FL 2024. Burial will follow in Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
