Obituary of Yvonne McClure

Yvonne McClure, 84, of Viera, FL passed away on February 5, 2024 after a short illness.

Yvonne was born on November 12, 1939 in Detroit, MI to Royden Miller and Catherine Oswald. She grew up living with her mother and her grandparents, Joseph and Ida Oswald, and graduated from Dominican High School. After high school she worked as an administrative assistant for companies such as National Broach and General Motors. In 1962 she met her future husband, William McClure, on a foursome date with her neighbor…William was the other girl’s date.

William and Yvonne were married on May 25th, 1963. They had two children, Kathleen (Daniel, dec.) and Christine (Pete). They lived in Royal Oak, Clinton Twp, and Richmond, MI before moving to St. Clair, MI in 1988.

Yvonne was passionate about reading and libraries, especially the Lois Wagner Memorial Library where she worked for many years. She also enjoyed watching the freighters on the St. Clair River from her living room window. Yvonne and Bill and their children traveled extensively across the United States, an activity the couple kept up even after Bill retired, branching out to world travel.

In 2002 Yvonne and Bill moved to Viera, where she continued to enjoy travel, reading and puzzles of all kinds.

Yvonne will be greatly missed by her husband, children and other relatives and friends living in the area. A graveside service will be held on February 21, 12:30pm at the National Cemetery in Mims, FL.
