Larry Robert Bass, passed away on December 3, 2023, in Melbourne, Florida after a life well lived. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was 84 years old.

Larry was born on June 2, 1939 to Louis and Dorothy Bass in Dunn, North Carolina. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy where he served for 20 years. He was stationed in Italy and Germany. It was in Bremerhaven, Germany where he met the love of his life, Ingeborg, aka Inge. The two of them were married for 59 years and share two children, Lisa and Michael.

After retiring from the Navy, Larry worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development as an Asset Manager and retired from civil service after 20 years. Larry and Inge were blessed with four grandchildren, Eleyna, Emilie, Erin and Evan. For the grandchildren, he will always be known as their “Opa”. In addition to his wife, children, son in law Eric, and grandchildren, he is survived by his brothers, Ralph, Dwight, and sisters Jane, Libby, and Linda.

Larry loved traveling, playing poker, and spending time with his family. He was loved by many, and he will be missed.

Larry’s memorial will be held December 27, 2023, at 11am at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home. He will be buried with military honors at 2:30pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
