Obituary of Patricia G. Canina

Mrs. Patricia Grace Canina, widow of Richard P Canina and daughter of the late Mrs. Mary Dwyer (born Atria) and Mr. Thomas Dwyer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 24,2023 at Viera Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Canina, Doyle, and son-in-law, Charles J. Doyle, their children, Charles R. Doyle, and Kristen Doyle, her son, Richard G Canina and his wife, Denise Canina, and their children, Richard A Canina, Matt Canina, and Lauren Roberson. She is also survived by her seven great grandchildren.

Patricia was born in The Bronx, NY. In 1936. Always strong and resilient. She went to work at the age of 14 while still attending school. She graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx and went to work for the Telephone Company where she remained working until the birth of her children.

Patricia and her husband Richard were childhood sweethearts. They met at age 14 while roller skating. They married when Patricia was 19. Her husband was in the Army stationed in Washington DC so they moved to Arlington Virginia where they lived until he was honorably discharged. They moved back home to the Bronx, where they lived for several years before moving to Brentwood, Long Island to raise their two children, Donna and Richard. Patricia and her husband moved to Brevard County in 1977 following his retirement from The New York City Fire Department. Patricia and Richard were married for 57 years until his death in June 2013. 

Patricia was an amazing wife, mother and homemaker. She worked outside the home at varying stages when extra money was needed for family goals. She was loving, caring, fiercely loyal to her family and friends, strong, strong, willed, smart, street smart, tolerant, open minded, outspoken, fun loving, and full of life. She provided unfailing, unconditional love and support to her family. She loved to entertain at home and cooked huge, dinners for family and friends. She always found a way to stretch any meal to feed any and everyone at the house at dinner time. She was always up for a good time. One of her nicknames was Party Patty. She had many favorite past times, including boating and RV traveling  but spending time at home entertaining family and friends was her true passion.

A funeral mass will be held for Patricia on Friday, December 15 at 11 AM at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 North HWY A1A, Indialantic, Fl. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation at the church at 10:30 AM prior to the start of Mass.

Patricia was the matriarch of our family and will always be with us in our hearts.
