Obituary of Mary Gertrude Wiseman

Mary Gertrude WISEMAN,  peacefully passed away on June 27, 2023, at the age of 97 in her home in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She was born on April 15, 1926, in Jersey City to Gertrude and CDR Frank Schlapp, USN, Ret. 

Mary was a devoted wife to her late husband, CDR Frederick Wiseman, USN, Ret., and a loving mother to her children. 

She is survived by her son, Frank Wiseman of Lake Placid, FL, her son CAPT Robert Wiseman, USN, Ret., residing in Driftwood, TX, and her daughter Karen Walling of Dunkirk, Maryland, their spouses, three grand daughters and two great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Wiseman Gay and two grandsons.

Mary proudly supported her husband's military career as a Naval Officer's Wife, embracing the responsibilities and challenges that came with it, directing multiple moves and raising her children through three wars. She and Fred retired to Cocoa Beach in 1967.  Her unwavering commitment and love were the foundation of her family's strength and resilience.  

Mary's role as a wife and mother was her greatest joy and accomplishment. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home, filled with cherished memories and a sense of togetherness.  Mary was a volunteer. She looked in on friends and participated as a local  Honor Flight  guardian.    She had a sense of adventure and loved to travel. Her selflessness and nurturing nature will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. 

A celebration of Mary's remarkable life will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 11:30 am, at the Cocoa Beach Community Church following the regular service. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects and honor Mary's memory.

Mary  will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to inspire and guide those who were touched by her presence, her charm and wit. 

May she rest in eternal peace alongside her late husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetary, San Antonio, Texas.
