Obituary of James "Jiggs" Dargan

James (Jiggs) W. Dargan passed away at home on June 19th, 2023. He was the  son of James J. Dargan and Helen Champion Dargan, born on February 28, 1932 on Canoe Hill in Saugerties, NY. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Ann Hauck on May 3, 1953. They lived on Bennett Avenue in Saugerties until she passed away in 2000. They had 5 daughters, Peggy, Debby, Joanne, Sue and Carol.

His first career was working for his father and he worked hard to build James J Dargan Inc Chrysler Dealership into a thriving business. His businesses later included multiple dealerships, rental companies. a car wash and the Rip Van Winkle Country Club. He considered Larry and Bob Siracusano and John Smith to be his business sons. 

In 2001, following the death of his wife Bev, he fell in love and married Margaret (Peggy) Cantelmo. They lived in her home on the Hudson River until 2019 when they decided to make their condo in Cape Canaveral, Florida their permanent address.  

He is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughters: Peggy and husband Dan Bross, Debby Teska and her husband Mike Shoemaker, Joanne Dargan, Sue and husband Mark Fingar, Carol and husband Andy Jaskowiak, nine grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, his sister Helen and her husband Bill Ware and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on July 7th, 2023, in Florida at the Beckman Williamson Funeral Home, 101 North Brevard Avenue, Cocoa Beach, Florida 32931 at 3:00PM. 

There will be a Celebration of his Life in the fall in Saugerties, NY.
