Obituary of Elaine G. Russo

Elaine G. (Halpin) Russo of Melbourne, FL passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023 with family by her side. She was born in Waltham, MA on May 29, 1941, the daughter of Leo J. Halpin and Grace (McAskill) Halpin.

Elaine leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Christopher R. Russo. She worked with him in the insurance business in Medway, MA. where they raised their children and were involved in the community. Elaine and Chris loved to entertain in their home, inviting family and friends to large and memorable cookouts and holiday parties. They spent many happy times together wintering in Florida and in recent years, retired to Melbourne full time.

Elaine’s children remember her as a fun-loving Mom. Her son Christopher R. Russo Jr. resides with his wife Jacquelyn Russo and their three daughters in Upton, MA. Jeffrey L. Russo resides with his wife Nahla Azmy and their two children in Princeton, NJ. She is predeceased by her son William (Billy) Russo.

Elaine also leaves behind a sister, Karen Pinkham and her husband Kenneth Pinkham of Milford, MA and a brother, Gerald Dufresne and his wife, Heidi Dufresne of Wells, ME. She was predeceased by seven additional siblings and was also adored by her many nieces and nephews.

Elaine loved to meet and greet her neighbors while walking her dog Lucy-Lu. Everywhere she went she was interested in knowing people’s names and hearing the stories of their lives. But the true pride and joy of her life were her grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally, Trevor, Ranya, Kaitlyn, Kristina and Kathleen.

A private celebration of life is planned for friends and family in Melbourne, FL. Funeral services will take place in Massachusetts at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the  American Cancer Society
