Deborah Ridel

Obituary of Deborah Faith Ridel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah Faith Ridel of Melbourne, Florida.  She was the beloved wife of Ronald Ridel. Deb passed peacefully in her sleep June 12, 2023.

Born September 5th, 1956, Deb was the daughter of Rev. Ray Blanset and his late wife Betty Blanset. She filled her adult years working, traveling the world, and enjoying the arts - painting, writing, reading and singing. With a love for people and cultures, Deb lived abroad in Hungary, immersing herself in the local customs and foods, and made lifelong friends.

Deb lived up to her middle name, with a strong devotion to Christ, which inspired her to give of herself, her time, and her talents to both her family and the community. Her infectious smile, work with numerous charities and her advocacy for children brightened the world and made it a better place for all us!

This did not prevent Deb, however, from being a fierce competitor with a love for games of all kinds, with some of her favorites being strategic board games and the Wii.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ron Ridel, father Rev. Ray Blanset, brother David Blanset, step children, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family.

A mass celebrating Deb’s life will be held Monday, June 26th at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Melbourne, Florida.  A reception will be held immediately following the mass.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be sent to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition at www.multiplesystematrophy.org.
