Obituary of Donald Charles Rydeen

Donald Charles Rydeen, 90 was born on March 23, 1932 in Grass Range, Montana and passed away on Saturday August 20, 2022 in Melbourne, Florida. He was baptized in the American Lutheran Church. Don served as Petty Officer Third Class in the Navy during the Korean War. He went onto Montana State College where he earned his degree in Industrial Engineering and moved to Seattle Washington to work for the Boeing Corporation, where his family expanded to include a wife and two kids. He eventually ended up at Cape Canaveral during the Minuteman and Apollo Space Programs. After leaving Boeing, he started his own company Genie Building Management, in Vero Beach, Florida. His tag line “Let Genie Do It” was who he really was! The guy you called to get whatever you needed built, fixed, painted, cleaned, or maintained. He could build you a church, a parade float, a doll house, or anything in-between. Don was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Advent Lutheran Church. After his retirement, he worked for Advent Lutheran Church as a Sexton, until his second retirement which freed him up to volunteer for Family Promise and allowed him to travel and spend time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Don was preceded in death by his wife Lois, survived by his two children, David (Cheryl) of Frisco, TX, known as “Papa” to Anna, Madysen (Ben) Wiggins, Chase, Kalissa, and his two great grandchildren Brielle and Tristan and his daughter, Ruth (David) Perry of Orlando, FL. Don’s legacy will live on in all the lives he has touched. He will be truly missed. A celebration of life service is planned for November 19th, 1:00PM at Advent Lutheran Church in Melbourne Florida. In lieu of any flowers please feel free to donate to his favorite charity - Family Promise
