Obituary of Angela Rarina O'Hanlon

Angela Rarina Piccininni O’Hanlon, 81 of Viera, Florida and White Plains, NY, caring wife, mother, MomMom, sister, aunt and friend left us on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She was married to her loving husband James for 59 years after meeting while attending Seton Hall, High School in Patchogue, NY. Born and raised in Manhattan, Angela was the daughter of Grace and Nicholas Piccininni. She leaves behind cherished husband Jim; her children, Angel and Chris Tinnirello of White Plains, NY, Chrisi Bonchick of West Simsbury, CT, and PJ and Stephanie O’Hanlon of Bowdoinham, ME; her grandchildren, Angel Rose (Cory Stratton) and Gabrielle Tinnirello, Sarah, David, and Leah Bonchick, Dashiell and Beckett O’Hanlon, and Claire Zito; her siblings, Nanette and Matt Livingston of Patchogue, NY, and Mike and Patt Piccininni of Viera, FL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Angela received her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from City University of NY in 1980, and her Masters of Social Work from Fordham University in 2000. After raising her three children in Queens, NY, Angela worked for Queensboro Community College where she helped to establish the College Art Gallery, and also worked at Sleepy Hollow Restorations in Tarrytown, NY. She then transitioned to Human Services work in Westchester County, NY. She worked as a Counselor at The Volunteers of America shelter for homeless persons and as an addiction counselor and social worker at many addiction treatment centers including Westchester County Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Hospital, The Lexington Center and United Hospital, all in Westchester County, NY. She specialized in the counseling of women and adult children of addicted persons. After retiring to Florida in 2008, Angela continued in her commitment to her community with many years of volunteer work at the Brevard County Humane Society. Her humanitarian work did not define Angela; she lived to spread love and warmth to all she encountered, especially her loving husband James and eight grandchildren. Angela and James were members of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Viera, FL and St. Mary’s Parish in Rockledge, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Health First Hospice Unit at Cape Canaveral Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family and cared for by the marvelous staff of the Hospice unit in her final days.
