Obituary of Herbert Parks

Herbert 0 Parks 73 a former resident of Allen, Kansas died at his home in Melbourne,Fl. on Sunday, November 15, 2009. He was born in Miller, Kansas on Oct.17, 1936. The son of Herbert & Amanda Parks. He graduated from Allen High School in May 1955 and enlisted in the Navy. After serving 21 years he retired from the Navy and lived in San Diego, Ca. In 1977 he worked for National Steel Shipbuilding and Co. for eight years. He returned to Allen in 1983. He was a Real Estate agent in Emporia for ten years. He was President of the Emporia board of realtors twice and was Realtor of the year twice. He worked at Bluestem Farm and Ranch for five years and then retired. He was a member of VFW Post 1980 of Emporia, and American Legion Post 389 of Allen,Ks.;Flint Hills area Viet Nam Veterans of Emporia. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, member of U.S.S. F.D.R. CV-42 Reunion Association, member of North Lyon County Senior Center member of North Lyon County Youth Center, and Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia, Ks. He is survived by his wife Judy Coe Parks of Melbourne,Fl., six Daughters Terri Weaver of Suffolk,VA and Traci Baldwin of Chesapeake, VA, Judy LaRance of Tacoma, WA, Donna Quinn of Knoza Lake, NY, Sally Feddish of Minden, NV. Patty Puchosic of Orange Park, Fl, and a Son Steve Coe of West Palm Beach, Fl. Eleven Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers, Gale Parks and Gary Parks of Admire,Ks. and Melvin Parks of Emporia, Ks. and Mike Parks and Rex Parks of Allen,Ks. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Amanda Parks and Three sisters Betty Martin, Geraldine Lohmyer, and Phylis Rhoads. Full Military Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 4:00.P.M. at the Allen Cemetery in Allen, Ks. Family and friends will meet after the graveside services for a small memorial service at the North Lyon County Youth Center in Allen. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the North Lyon County Youth Center in Allen, Ks.
