Elizabeth (Betty) Najemnik , formerly, Elizabeth Abel was born on July 30, 1920 in the small town of Brezova pod Bradlom in what was Czechoslovakia at the time and is now Slovakia. Betty had two sisters and one brother. Her father moved to Chicago earlier. She came to Chicago in 1938 and lived with her father until he died suddenly in 1939. Betty relied on friends within the Czech commumnity of Chicago. She learned English and eventually got a defense plant job during the World War II. When the war ended, the job ended. Betty met Emil Najemnik at a Czech social event in Chicago in 1947. They were married on February 8, 1948. They settled down in the Chicago suburb of North Riverside and raised two boys, Robert and Donald. They were active members of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Riverside, Illinois until they moved to Florida in 1996. The lived for a time in Suntree and then settled into a home in the Ashwood Lakes neighborhood in Rockledge. Shortly after the move, they chose Faith"Viera" Lutheran Church as their new spritual home. Betty strongest talents were in the kitchen. She was a tireless cook and baker making meal time a treat. Holidays were especially memorable. She was a sefless wife and mother always wanting to see to the needs of her family before her own. Betty is survived by her husband of 61 years, Emil; her son Robert of Rockledge, FL; and her son Donald(and wife Jennifer) of Viera, FL; (and grandchildren, Lindsey and Matthew).
