Obituary of Dora Thompson

Biography Dora Anne Thompson Rockledge, Florida Beloved Mother, Nana, cousin and friend; Dora Anne Thompson, 77, died peacefully at home on August 16, 2009. Dora Anne was a fourth generation Rockledgian. She graduated from Cocoa High School in 1949. She loved her family, community and God. “Dee” was a founding member of Mosquito Beaters. She belonged to the Woman’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 22 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3550 in Cocoa, a lifetime member of the Cocoa-Rockledge Garden Club and a life-long member of the Rockledge Presbyterian Church. Dora Anne has been active with the City of Rockledge since 1978; serving as Chairperson of the Beautification Board, Citizen’s Advisory Board, and Board of Adjustment. She was the first citizen in Rockledge to be honored as the “Volunteer of the Year”. Preceded in death by her parents, Kate and Bert Thompson, she is survived by her daughters, Catherine “Bebe” Shelton, Jan (John) Seage, granddaughters, Summer and Shelby Seage, numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home 5400 Village Drive Viera, Fl.. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday at 5:30pm at Rockledge Presbyterian Church. Dora Anne was a very generous, caring and thoughtful friend.
