Obituary of Sharon Blanchard

Sharon McGarry Blanchard, 44, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009 at her home in Cape Canaveral after a five-year battle with cancer. Sharon was born in Muenchweiler, Germany, grew up in Northern Virginia and came to live in Brevard County in 1990. She was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, Alexandria, Virginia and the University of Alabama. Over the years, Sharon had many interesting jobs in the Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral area. Among them was wedding coordinator for Premier Cruise Lines, opening the Cocoa Beach Beall’s Outlet store as manager, opening the Curves for Women fitness club in Cocoa Beach as manager, managing The Trinity Shop and most recently, she worked for King Rentals/Keenan Realty in the property management area. Her survivors include her husband, Joseph Blanchard, daughter, Natalie Anne Clark, mother, Carol Pilkenton, father, Andrew T. McGarry and brother Steven A. McGarry and two nephews, Steven and Tyler and one niece, Sarah. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Friday, March 13th at the Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colon Cancer Alliance, at 1200 G Street Northwest, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20005.
