Obituary of Walter T. Anderson

Walter (Walt) T. Anderson, 67, passed away December 15, 2008 at home in Cocoa Beach. He was born April 6, 1941 in St. Paul, MN. He moved to Florida in March 1966, and spent the majority of his career at the space center working as a field engineer. He was very dedicated to his work there and thoroughly enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. Walt retired in 2004 after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease but his love of life always kept him going. He constantly had jokes to tell and always kept his independence through the worst of times. Never giving up a chance to be with friends and family, he will be missed for his great heart and wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ruth; devoted sons Richard (Libo) and Michael; two adorable grandchildren Sean and Justin; and three sisters Barbara Harned of St. Paul, Doris Anderson, and Rosalyn (Harvey) Kaufmann of Rockledge as well as several nieces and nephews. He loved the time he spent with the family whether in vacation or just at home and we are very grateful for time we had to spend with him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 27 at 11AM at Calvary Chapel on Merritt Island, 3500 N. Courtenay Pkwy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Foundation on line at www.ALSAFL.org or Health First Hospice or Calvary Chapel Merritt Island.
