Mary Ann and family,
We share in your grieving over Rodney's passing. As Linda Ellis so beautifully expresses in her poem The Dash, your husband, brother, dad, grandpa (and all of his roles in so many other people's lives) truly spent his dash incredibly well. We know you will hear some great stories, some you never heard before, as family and friends share their memories of Rodney. His was truly a life to celebrate, and there will be laughter along with the tears. May God bless and comfort you all.

Dear Mary Ann, Dale, and Summer,
We feel as if we had known Rodney forever. He always made us feel that way with his warm and friendly greeting whenever we would see each other.
We came to Cocoa Beach in l961, but of course, Rodney and you had been here for several years before that. Our daughters Linda and Rebecca have known Dale and Summer all the way from Freedom 7 thru U.F. Greta worked for Rodney for a short time in l970 when he was the head of "Cocoa Isles Realty Company" here in Cocoa Beach, and found Rodney to be a delightful, fair, and patient "Boss". When Dave was County Utilities Administrator and later a consulting engineer, he had many occasions to work with Rodney, and always knew him to be a man of character and vision.
We, consider it a privilege to have known him, and we hope that it will give you some measure of comfort to hear this from all who knew him.
He left you far too soon, and we're so sorry for all of you. Greta and Dave Jones

I always thought of Rodney as a great man on his own but when compared to others he was truly outstanding. He had many traits that unfortunately the modern world not longer values; civility, loyalty, truthfulness, sincerity and humility. So many politicians disappoint. Rodney never did. My thoughts and prayers are with his which he loved very much.

What an inspiration and good friend Rodney has been to our family for the past 50 years. My best memory is when Kirk and I got married in 1975 at the Community Church. My dad, John, and Rodney were in charge of passing out the champagne. They had such a good time together. I hope they served as much to others as they had themselves. My heart goes out to his lovely family.

I have known Ketcham family since they moved to Cocoa Beach in the 50's and I was a little girl.
My parents Russell and Blanche Smith (both deceased now) also at that time went to the Cocoa Beach Community Church, I can remember my Dad making chairs for the Sunday school classes for the children to set in.
I work at the Canaveral Port Authority now and have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Ketcham. I remember the times he would come and sign my checks and we would talk about the good old days in Cocoa Beach. I will miss seeing his friendly face at the commission meeting.
You have lossed a loving Husband, a great Dad, Grand-father and we have loss wonderful and greatful friend and a pillar in our community.

Rodney Ketcham was a man's man - a shining example of how a humble man with the heart of a servant could prosper without the desire or need for shameless self-promotion. His obituary barely touches the dept of his service to others. For just one example, listed among his many activities is the mention of Rodney as a Realtor - the perspective from which I first got to know Rodney over 30 years ago.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Rodney did not view the legions of neophytes entering the ultra-competitive real estate profession as competition, but as colleagues. Rodney taught them by example, not words, the Ketcham way of doing business - the honorable way. Don't know of anyone who ever hesitated, even for a split second, to do business with Rodney on his word. Not even a hand shake was needed. He truly deserved the title of The Most Trusted Realtor.
When I arrived in Tallahassee in '92, one of the first people I met there was Representative Hurley Rudd. "Do you know Rodney Ketcham?" he asked. Before I could say that everybody knows him where I'm from, Hurley proudly proclaimed, "He's from here!" Seems everyone, everywhere, who ever knew Rodney was proud of him and honored to know him.
Rodney's influence and memory will live in the lives of the countless others he touched.
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Mary Ann and family.

Mary Ann & Family,
Another great community leader was lost in the passing of Rodney. I remember first meeting Rodney with my father at a Civilian Military Council meeting when I returned from Gainesville in 1977. I also had the pleasure of working with Rodney on numerous Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce events and the Past Chairman's Council.
Rodney epitomized the meaning of a true Southern Gentleman. He would listen to your concerns and then tell you what he was going to do. A community leader the likes of Rodney is not born but is self made by his dedication to his family and the community.
Dawn and I offer our prayers and condolences to the Ketchum Family.
