Raymond and Dorothy (Lawrence) Dumigan.  He attended Cathedral High School in Syracuse and proudly served 2 years active duty in the US Army in Korea and stateside. He was honorably discharged as Corporal in 1954. After military service, he joined the New York State Police Troop D as a patrolman for a short time. While on a patrol coffee break, he met his future wife, the former Edith Fiore. She was his waitress when Edith worked for her brothers lunch counter in Oneida, NY. The couple then married in 1956 at St. Agathas Church and moved to Missouri where Robert attended the University of Missouri earning his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation the couple then returned to Canastota where he began employment with Carrier Corporaton of Syracuse for over 25 years. He attended night school graduating from Syracuse University earning a Master’s degree in Engineering Administration in 1970.  While at Carrier his team was responsible for designing, testing and installing refrigeration control systems for the US Minute Man Missile System and US Naval surface ships and submarines.  He later owned and operated the John A. Scanlon Supply Co of Utica New York, an industrial plumbing and supply company for many years.

In 1997 Bob and Edith moved to Viera, Florida to build their Florida home. Robert continued to work part time as a engineering consultant for the  USS SeaWolf nuclear submarine program, and  he also taught and tuitored college math and science for the Brevard County Community College and  grades 9-12. Bob enjoyed his Harley Davidson, golfing, sailing, dancing and Sudoku in the Florida sun. Each summer the couple would travel back home to Canastota to visit with family and friends.

Robert had a positive attitude in life, and was inspirational to many who knew him. In 2008 at age 76 Robert suffered a double amputation of his lower leg and foot  after undergoing a heart bypass surgery in Florida. The unexpected injury did  not keep a good man down when at age 76 he learned to walk again with prosthetic devices. The power of prayer, positive attitude and family support allowed the couple to eventually resume their retirement lifestyle.
