Obituary of John Joseph Mueller

John Joseph “Jack” Mueller, 95, died peacefully Friday, May 3. Jack was born on February 13, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Joe and Grace Mueller. After serving in the Army, working at TV station KDKA, and graduating from Penn Technical School, Jack got his dream job at IBM. It was there he met his best friend, and future brother-in-law, who introduced him to his wife of 67 years, Aileen. Working at IBM moved Jack and the family to upstate New York; Huntsville, Alabama; Atlantic City New Jersey; and Cocoa Beach, Florida. He had a front row seat to the space race as he worked on the Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs. After retiring from IBM, Jack finished out his career with Lockheed at the Kennedy Space Center. Jack was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing golf and traveling in his retirement years. He and Aileen were long-time volunteers with Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by Aileen; children Rich, Barbara, Chuck and Colleen; their spouses; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be Monday, May 13 at Beckman Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach from 5 pm to 7 pm.

The funeral is Tuesday, May 14, at 10:30 am at Our Saviour’s Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach with a reception to follow.
