Obituary of Victor "Vic" Wayne Speed

On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Victor Wayne Speed (Vic), loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 77 and 10 days.

Vic was born October 9, 1946, in Minneapolis Minnesota to Victor Speed and Opal Brown. Vic moved to Orange County, California at the age of 10. After graduating from high school, he met his wife Marsha Schaal and they had two daughters. Vic built his career around his passion for space exploration as an engineer in the aerospace industry. His career accolades include work on the Concorde plane and Spaced Shuttle program. His career relocated him to Cocoa Beach Florida in 1999.

Vic loved spending time with his family and friends, always welcoming anyone for a visit. Some of his favorite memories include desert hiking, off-roading, cigar aficionado with friends, and fishing with his grandchildren. Telling humorous storied of his adventures, readying mystery, and outer space novels, watching his family grow, were his favorite things in life.

Vic will be sorely missed and survived by his wife, Marsha Speed, daughters Tiffani Speed and Mindy Kahle, son in law Mike Kahle, and grandchildren, Charlie Nailon, Arden Kahle, Oliver Nailon, and Jeremy Kahle.

He is now at peace joining his parents, in laws, friends and furry best friend Otis.

There will be a family and friend gathering at Backman Williamson Funeral Home, 101 N. Brevard Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 Thursday, October 26, visitation at 3:00 with service at 4:00 p.m..
