Eileen Moran

Obituary of Eileen C. Moran

Born in Philadelphia, PA May 21, 1926 went to Heaven September 13, 2023. Eileen is preceded by her only husband, Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Moran, in 1976, and her Sister, Dorris Millen (age 102). She is survived by her two children, Neal (Lynn) Joseph Moran,  Cindy Joy Moran, her granddaughter, Sara Anne Moran, and many nieces and nephews.

She joined the New Jersey Citizens’ Defense at age 16 during WWII, and she was entitled to wear the insignia of Messenger. Eileen said, “I carried messages between offices”.

Eileen and Nick were married May 12, 1952, and enjoyed dancing together. They were devoted to their children and families. Eileen was the epitome of a 50s housewife. They met in Philadelphia where Eileen owned and operated her Florist Shop. She earned a horticultural certificate in floral design from a vocational college in the Philadelphia area. She had the distinction of being one of the first 7 people to graduate with that horticultural certificate. Eileen was known for her lively spirit and fun loving nature.

Eileen went to work for K-Mart after her children were grown. She was known as “Sarge” by the younger employees of K-Mart, because of her work ethic and planning abilities.

She enjoyed painting, quilting and sewing. She created many items which are treasures for her family. She continued to garden for as long as she was able, and she enjoyed plants all of her life.

She lived in the Cocoa FL area since 1991, except for the years she lived in North Central Florida.

She was with one of her companions when she passed at Solaris Healthcare in Rockledge FL. KK (3 days) and Bernice (2 days) shared time with Eileen weekly at Solaris. Their loving attention ensured that Eileen attended facility activities, ate her meals, and alerted staff of extra needs. Eileen’s favorite activities at Solaris were happy hour, big band music time, and walks around the facility. Our family greatly appreciates the quality care they gave Eileen.

Eileen was a Shining star. Her wit and charm were immediately enjoyed by others. She is greatly loved and missed by her family and all who knew her.
