Nicholas Jones

Obituary of Nicholas Lee Jones

Nicholas Lee Jones (19) of Indialantic, FL, unexpectedly left this world on August 12, 2023. Nicholas (Nick) was born in Silver Spring, MD on March 2, 2004, the son of Stephen and Cheryl (Aredes) Jones and brother of Lucas Sander Jones. Nick graduated from Melbourne Central Catholic High School in 2022 where he played baseball, and then went on to attend University of North Florida where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Nick was also training and had an interest in serving our country.

Nicholas, had a vivacious spirit, was God blessed with a vibrant lifeforce, and was pure joy to all those around him. He had a strong sense of adventure and curiosity, with a kind spirit, and sound strength of mind. He was an athlete and an explorer, a creator and an inventor. Nick approached every endeavor with both passion and compassion, and brought laughter, smiles and warmth to everyone around him.

Nicholas was born in Maryland and grew up in Florida, a proud American and young man blessed with impeccable physical agility. He eagerly threw himself into activities and his youth was filled with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, martial arts, boating, climbing, strumming his guitar and many other interests. Nick loved to build things whether it was mechanical, electrical, music, songs or beats, he was always creating and building. Most of all he loved to build relationships with people and everywhere he went was making friends. Nick had a keen sense and modern style; he was always on the edge of fashion and hairstyles which he so proudly wore.

He loved our nation’s colors of red, white and blue, and the land, air and sea that those colors represent. Nicholas experienced so much that life had to offer in each of those realms. He was a “maker” with quick wit and smart mind; he turned ideas into things and words into action. Nicholas loved sports, especially baseball and martial arts, working out at the gym, and excelled at anything on wheels including skateboarding, bike, and hoverboard. His parents knew from early on that Nicholas would keep them on their toes; not only did he start walking at eight months of age, as a toddler he was scaling walls and climbing trees to unimaginable heights. When not doing land sports, Nick took to the air. His backflips are legendary - from rooftops and bridges to sandy beaches and snowy mountains – also the only MCC graduate to successfully land a “flip” rather than walk to receive his diploma! A true Floridian, Nicholas loved being on the water and wakeboarding, surfing, jet skiing, or simply taking his boat out to cruise with friends.

Nicholas lived each day with passion, energy and insatiable zest for life that was only surpassed by his faith and honor; his was truly a life lived full through love of God, country, family and friends. Nicholas especially loved his family, and cherished tradition and his time spent with them. He lived in the moment, uninhibited, full of life, happiness and love. Most of all, Nicholas loved God and was thankful to God that he gave us this beautiful place to be temporarily.

Nicholas is survived by his loving parents, Steve and Cheryl Jones and beloved brother Lucas Jones of Indialantic, FL, his grandmother, Shirley Aredes of Silver Spring, MD, and many much-loved Aunts and Uncles along with cherished Cousins, and numerous loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Marvin and Anne Jones of Merritt Island, FL and his grandfather George Aredes of Washington, DC.
