Obituary of Doug Vasko

Doug Vasko, 72, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on May 4, 2023. He was born on September 27, 1950, to his parents, the late Irene and Bill Vasko.

Doug is survived by his children, Rachel, Laura, and Ashtin Vasko, and his granddaughter, Brooklyn Navarre.

Visitation will be held at 10:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Beckman-Williamson Funeral home in Cocoa Beach, Fl. The burial will take place at Brevard Memorial in Cocoa, Fl at 1:00pm.

Doug was a family-oriented man who loved God and was known for his kindness, generosity, mechanical skills, and his extensive knowledge of cars. He graduated from Clarkston High School and went on to attend a higher education at Moody Bible Institute. In the 1970s, Doug served in the Navy reserves and was honorably discharged.

Doug dedicated his life to serving others. He and his wife, Joyce, were missionaries in Peru, and spent their time spreading the Word of God to anyone they could. He worked as an Airplane Mechanic Supervisor and received many awards throughout his career. After he retired, he was a volunteer at Servant Air Ministries (SAMI).

Doug attended Harbor City Baptist Church. He enjoyed studying the Word of God and spending time with his family. Doug held a Bible Study session every night with his children until they moved out. He also enjoyed attending car shows and would take his family to Old Town's muscle car shows where his 1967 Pontiac GTO won the checkered flag.

Doug's funeral will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Beckman Williamson Funeral Home - Cocoa Beach. Visitation will be held an hour prior at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at 1:00PM, with military honors, in Brevard Memorial Park - Cocoa, FL.
