Obituary of Arlene M. Howley

Arlene M. Howley (nee Slater), born in Philadelphia, PA, July 14, 1935, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023. She was the only child of Marie and Ralph Slater. And a 1953 graduate of Little Flower High School.

Arlene married Jim Howley in November of 1953. They lived in Philadelphia, where they raised 5 children and were very involved in the Philly area Irish Community, including coordinating trips to Ireland for many years.

In 1990, after working more than 20 years as the Administrative Assistant for the Dept. Of Medicine at Temple University Hospital, Arlene retired, and with Jim, moved to Cape Canaveral, FL.

She was an active member of the parish community at Our Saviour Church. Serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Church (Martha) Cleaner and The Senior’s Club President.

Arlene was passionate about the arts. She was an accomplished watercolor painter and piano player; she also enjoyed Irish dancing and clogging and her membership in the Red Hats!

A great fan of DIY, she could sew, wallpaper, paint, re-furbish, just about anything!

Most of all – Arlene loved her family, her friends and her faith.
