Obituary of Tom Tozzi
Angelo (Thomas) Tozzi, known to his friends and family as Tom, completed his final adventure on April 12, 2023, at the age of 86. Tom was an explorer of life, with a heart full of fun and a spirit of adventure.
Born on April 5, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, Tom lived life to the fullest. He was a man of many talents, with a degree in Business and Aviation from Mississippi State University and two years of service in the United States Navy. Tom was also a successful businessman, with stints as a salesman for Dunn and Bradstreet and International Harvester. He was also a commercial pilot and personal pilot for U.S. Senator Trent Lott. Later, he was the owner of the Tom Tozzi Ford car dealership in Picayune, Mississippi. He later worked as a Budget Analyst for the Naval Oceanography Command at the National Space Technology Laboratories in Bay St. Louis, MS. His wandering spirit took him and Sylvia out West to Northern Idaho for an early retirement in the North Country where he enjoyed years of rural mountain living.
Tom had a passion for aviation, hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. He dove headfirst into life, always seeking out new adventures and opportunities to have fun. He parachuted from an airplane and ran two marathons. Tom was also a hero, saving a stranger from drowning and a baby from choking. Most important to him was his undying faith in Jesus Christ and his Catholic faith. Tom was a loving man, who cherished his family and friends. A man of refined taste, he loved a good meal, followed by a fine cigar and a glass of cognac. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Tozzi (Bruce), his two sons, Daniel and Stephen (Kimberly), his grandson, Thomas Tozzi, his brother, Daniel Tozzi, and his niece, Renee Tozzi. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Josephine Tozzi.
As we celebrate Tom's life, we remember his boundless energy, tenacity, and playful spirit. In honor of Tom, we invite you to raise a glass and make a toast to life, to love, and to adventure.
A service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 N. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32935, with a viewing at 12:00 p.m. and a funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Tom will be deeply missed, but his spirit of adventure and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Cheers to you, Tom, and may you rest in peace in the loving arms of the Lord in Heaven.
