I worked with Tamara from 2007-2009 when I was a Resident Advisory and she was the dormitory coordinator. She was so sweet, had an infectious laugh and was inspiring as a goal setter. I am sorry for your loss. I also knew her at the beginning of her meeting Josh. It was nice to know him and see the time when they had Andrew. Please accept my comfort and prayers during this time and know Tamara left a beautiful legacy of kindness and beauty in the world. Many hugs and prayers to all those who are grieving her loss.
Sincerely,
Natalie Essad

For Tamara -
I recently re-posted some passed-down post about recording your mom or loved one because you don’t know how long you have. I can tell you from experience this is something I dearly wish I had of my mom who passed in 2007, but I did not know that less than a week later a friend/co-worker from EKU would pass away suddenly making me wish for the very same thing.
I worked with Tamara Connell (Stephens at the time before she met Josh) in 2004-2006 and she was an amazing friend and co-worker. She referred to herself as a “country mouse” from Somerset, KY. She worked hard to overcome her past and was the first in her family to go to college, graduate, and get her Master’s degree. Her daddy could not have been more proud.
Tamara had an infectious laugh that reminded me of Betty Rubble with the looks of Marilyn Monroe. I was heartbroken when I got the news that she was gone, just no longer in the world. No more laughs or cards that end with “hugs, Tamara” gone.
It still doesn’t seem real or dare I use the word “fair” that she is gone so young. She still has an entire life’s worth of memories to make. Her son is not out of high school and she only had 15 years with her husband. There are too many things she is being cheated out of, so many firsts she deserves to experience.
Since I know that the word FAIR doesn’t apply in this situation, I will say what I hope she is getting out of this based on her beliefs. I hope she is with her parents who went before her. I hope she gets to watch over her family from afar. I hope she is at peace in that place of joy that so many pray for, and I hope that it is the reward for all of her struggles early in life.
Rest well, my friend.
Hugs, Meg

I worked with Tamara to start a chapter of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond Kentucky. I'll forever be grateful for the work, love and effort she put in. My condolences to her family and husband. She was a wonderful person.
Peace, love and chicken grease, Tamara. We at AZK Chapter love and miss you.

Tammy was the youngest of all of cousins. I remember she would often visit her grandmother ((Maudie Stephens) which lived down the street from us. Tammy made her grandmother proud. I wish that I would have known Tammy better. I know that she made the world better for everyone she helped a long the way. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear about Tammy. Unfortunately I never really had the opportunity to know her. As a cousin she was much younger than me and I live in Ohio but I know her Dad was always so proud of her and loved her to the moon back. I pray that Andrew will someday come to know her family. Please accept my condolences, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Tammy was my cousin. I know her dad was very proud of her and loved her very much. Uncle Paul always had a smile on his face when he talked about Tammy and Andrew. Andrew was his sunshine. He always spoke highly of Joshua. Tammy was courageous and determined to make a difference in others. I hope one day Andrew will come to know his cousins. My prayers are with you.
