Angelo Turiano

Obituary of Angelo Anthony Turiano

Angelo Anthony Turiano, loving husband of Carolyn, loving father, caring brother and uncle, and a US Army veteran, passed away on March 7, 2023 in Viera, FL.

Angelo was born June 4, 1931, to Antonio and Angela Turiano in White Plains, NY. He was the youngest of 4 siblings: Mary Lalli (nee Turiano), Bruno Turiano, and Catherine Turiano, all predeceased. Mary and Bruno’s children, his 9 nieces and nephews, called him “Uncle Geege.”

Angelo graduated from White Plains High School in 1949. He enlisted in the US Army in 1952, and served in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict until 1954, when he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. After the US Army, he attended Clarkson College in NY state for three years, then finished his degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami.

Angelo married his first wife, Margaret Gregory, May 5, 1962. They settled in Fairport, NY, in a house where Angelo laid a large slate patio, using skills he learned from his father, a bricklayer and mason. Ange worked for Xerox in Webster, NY, for 30 years until retirement. Ange enjoyed socializing with friends and family, and taking his tribe of five kids camping, skiing, and overseas. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Laura Turiano, spouse Michael Terry, and son Gregory; Mary Hart, partner James Morgan; Thomas Turiano, partner Shannon Dale, and daughter Lia; Christopher Turiano, partner Christie Samosir; Ann Sykes, spouse James Sykes, and sons James and Dashel.

In 1987 Angelo met Carolyn (Bauer) Turiano for the first time at a Christmas party. He was immediately smitten. They were married in 1992 at Mother of Sorrows church in Rochester (Greece), NY, where they lived for 13 years. They enjoyed playing cards, socializing with friends, going to plays, and taking care of their house; here Ange built a brick patio. During their time in Greece they discovered the joy of cruising.

2003 brought a big change. Angelo and Carolyn bought a condominium in Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. In 2005 they moved to Heritage Isle in Viera, FL. In the new neighborhood Angelo became known for starting the Euchre club, playing tennis, enjoying many social activities, serving on several committees, tiling his large lanai, and developing a countywide economic plan that included a monorail system and water park. He will be missed by many friends in the community.

Angelo is also survived by Carolyn's sons: Paul Bauer, spouse Alexia Pollack, and son James; Karl Bauer, and daughters Katherine and Lauren, son Michael Bauer, spouse Lara Chappell,  and sons Arthur and George.

Angelo was a proud Italian-American, beloved by many members of the extended Turiano family in Italy. His genealogical research resulted in an extensive family tree, and he enjoyed several trips to visit relatives throughout the country.

Ange and Carolyn were active members of St John the Evangelist parish in Viera, where a memorial mass and repast will be held on April 12, 2023, at 11am.
