Obituary of Nancy Anne Kennedy
Nancy Anne Kennedy, of Merritt Island, Florida, went to heaven on September 30, 2022, evening, surrounded by her closest family. Nancy was born on August 15, 1940, to Violet Surdu Colson and Bruno Frank Colson in Detroit, Michigan. Nancy moved to Miami, Florida in the early 1940s. Nancy is deeply loved and forever missed by her family and friends.
Nancy is best known for her love, loyalty, kindness, generosity, and passion for her family and friends, being a dedicated and loving Mom to her and other’s children, her registered nurse work, love of nature, love for her numerous pets, fine arts, travel, cheerful sense of humor, cooking, and hosting many joyful, beautiful holidays and parties with her husband at their homes.
Nancy A. Colson and Terry W. Kennedy met in elementary school, became sweethearts at Coral Gables High School, and graduated in 1958. Each attended University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL. Nancy dedicated herself to her full-time nursing education, and became a Registered Nurse in 1961, graduating from the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. Nancy and Terry wed March 1962 at the Presbyterian Church on Sunset Drive, Miami, and they remained lovingly married together for their full lives.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, and her nephew, Parker O. Colson. Nancy was survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Terry. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Suzanne M. Kennedy, Katherine A. Kennedy, Maria G. Van Sant, grandchildren, Andrew Boyer, Tess Boyer, Matthew Boyer, her brother, Gary D. Colson, her niece, Kasey Colson, and grand-nephew, Noah Simpson, and Suzanne’s family, Christopher Haddad, Anthony Haddad, and Joshua Haddad.
