Obituary of Patrick Downey

Partrick Downey, 78, passed away on October 13, 2022, at Opis Indian River Center. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paula Williams Downey; his two sons, David and Michael Downey; his daughter, Lisa Downey (Todd Phillips); granddaughters, Kiersten Phillips, Samantha and Stephanie Downey; brother, John Downey; along with numerous nieces and nephews, followed by the many friends he made throughout his life. Patrick was a brilliant, generous and kindhearted man who lived an amazing life. Being born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, his journey started. Starting off with a small job at a printing company, he moved on to work as a truck driver and trackman on the Long Island Railroad for 25 years. Patrick enjoyed reading a book and relaxing, as well as fishing with his family on the riverside. He lived by the motto “Life is short” and lived his life to the absolute fullest! The biggest accomplishment of his life was his family, which meant the world and everything more to him. He was a very proud man and his family made him prouder.
