I feel so honored to have had the opportunity during the last 18 months to get to know The Waters family. When I was invited to meet with Avis and Help in her daily regiment, all I had to do is look in her eyes and see her smile and knew that I wanted to be a part of it. The additional blessing came and I was helping her with her breakfast I got to sit and visit with Gene Waters. I found during the week before I would come to the house I would think of things I wanted to discuss with Gene he was always so kind and wise and I loved his perspective. I do believe that they were an exemplary couple we all could learn from. I count this friendship as an extra bonus that heavenly father gave me for living to Florida. Thank you

I confess, I was a tiny bit relieved when brother Waters got to go but I shed some tears thinking of how much he meant (means) to all. I remember him as a giant of a man. Mostly staying in the background and not calling attention to himself. He and Avis were great examples of what I wanted for my family. They raised eight righteous children which is not an easy task. What a great couple! God bless their family as they go through this loss.

Patriarch Waters gave Patriarchal Blessings to all 12 of our children and 2 of our granddaughters. He was truly a special son of Heavenly Father.

My condolences to the Waters family. Many years of being associated with this great family in the church and their home life examples of their love they have for each other was solid. May God comfort those during this emptiness of his loss. Beverly Conte-Millis and David Millis

17 years ago Patriarch Waters approached me and told me that my late husband, Roger needed me to move on and get married again. I was like What? I have my eternal companion Who is going to marry someone who is sealed to a husband?.. He smiled and said Someone who is also sealed to their eternal companion 2 weeks later I met my husband George at the Orlando Temple during a singles session he had also lost his companion. We have been happily married for 17 years and on our second Mission. Im so happy that Patriarch Waters is now reunited with Avisits always hard saying goodbye here..but boy they must be happy. Love to all the Waters Family.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of this great man. When I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1992, I looked up to him. A couple of years later I received a Patriarchal blessing from him. He was always kind, soft-spoken, and an example of Christ-like love. I feel honored to have known such a good man.

Paul and I remember well wonderfully spiritual and meaningful talks Bro. Waters gave over the 10 years we were members of Rockledge Ward. And his ardent testimony - so very special. He gave our two sons their patriarchal blessings and that prayerful time they remember well. We know and love so many of his children and their spouses. We loved Avis. She was so kind and humble. We send our love and heartfelt sympathy.

I remember Gene and his family well. His family were good people. Gene and Avis were two of the excellent young adults that were in our small Church in Savannah, Georgia. I remember that Gene was always kind and friendly with everyone. He and Avis were a perfect couple and were admired by everyone. I know there will be a large void in the Waters families. The Lord needed Gene where he could do the most good now.
