Obituary of Gerald (Jerry) Leo Doyle

MELBOURNE – Gerald Leo Doyle (Jerry) age 85, of Melbourne, FL passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, July 15th. He is survived by his five children, Mary Tee Devine (Mike), Susan Doyle-Shedd (Dan), Michael Doyle (Julie), Matt Doyle (Alicia) and Amy Doyle-White (Bob). Grampa Jerry was beloved by his 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Dooher Doyle (Kay), his parents Marie Cecilia (née Burke) and William James Doyle of Macedon, NY, and his older siblings John Doyle, James Glenn Doyle, Lucille Doyle Alderman and Jane Doyle Ross. A high school basketball star (“The Macedon Flash”), he attended Niagara University before graduating from St. John Fisher College with a BS in Accounting. He had a successful career in corporate finance, first as a CPA at Price Waterhouse Cooper, followed by four decades at Harris Corporation where he served as a Corporate Controller, and later as General Manager/VP of Digital Telephone Systems. Jerry was a voracious reader of mystery, western and crime novels; an avid movie lover (The Hanging Tree was his favorite); and a devout Atlanta Braves fan. A natural philosopher, he was ever curious about theology beyond his own Catholic faith. Jerry was an earnest golfer and like his wife Kay, a euchre cardshark. He will be remembered for his enduring kindness, patience, quick wit, and calm spirit. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at 10:00 AM, Wednesday July 27th at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 5655 Stadium Parkway in Melbourne, FL.
