Obituary of Richard Henry Terry

You would have been 94. One day shy, but what's one day in the life you lived? You did more and experienced more before you were twenty than most people will see in a lifetime. You escaped war torn China at the outset of World War II on your own as barely a teenager. Drafted into service during Korea, sailed across the Atlantic, and Pacific, became a skilled electrician and traveled the world with that trade. THEN started a family. One of the most devoted husbands and father's I have ever seen. Touched so, so many lives in such a cheerful, positive way. You always gave your time to the family and all of our friends that had the pleasure to share a meal at your home. Whatever we were interested in, you supported us with just as much interest and encouragement. You instilled in me your love of sailing and cruising under sail, enticed me with magical stories of your cruising days. You always said when you passed you would go cruising with your father and brothers. Your boat, SV Grisette, would always be bristol, the passage would never end, always underway with the wind on your quarter and following seas. I would say rest easy dad, but you just cast off the dock lines and are just getting started, and there's always something to do aboard. I will miss you, but we will sail together again. Richard Henry Terry passed away peacefully in his home on July 2nd. He was with his daughter, Tee Terry Wells, and his beloved wife, Suporn Sanguanboon Terry, who was always, always by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Suporn; three children who inherited his quick wit Tee Wells, Myron Terry and Joseph Terry and 11 grandchildren. In Iieu of flowers, my father wished that donations be made to Club Zion, or to Living World Ministries, a Christian orphanage in northern Thailand that he supported for more than thirty years. Please DM my sister if you wish to donate or Venmo. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 15th at 5 pm at Beckman-Williamson in Cocoa Beach.
