Obituary of Theresa Marian Wayne

Theresa (Tessie) Kopylec Wayne, 98, formerly of North Haven, Connecticut and Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022 after a long illness in Viera, Florida. Theresa was born in East Haven, Connecticut October 23, 1923, daughter to the late Alex and Eva (Garbinski) Kopylec. She is survived by her children, Edwin A. Wayne, (Suzan) of Warren, Maine, daughters Nancy W. Hughes (Stephen) of Merritt Island Florida and Dr. Susan I. Wayne, DVM of Eustis, Florida. Theresa is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Erin Hughes- Spence (Geoffrey), Christine J. Hughes, Alison Wayne Boerner (Trae) and Eric Wayne (Jaymie) and great grandsons John Edwin Spence, Colton Boerner and Kason Boerner and many nieces and nephews. Theresa was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Edwin A. Wayne Sr., brothers Andrew, Steven, Michael, Joseph and John Kopylec and sisters Mary K. Gould, Anne Della Valle and Holly Williams. Theresa proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII as a Radiology Technician and Medical Assistant attaining the rank of Sargent before her discharge. She was a member of the Fr. Charles Kavanaugh , Columbiette Auxiliary #7124 , the American Legion Post 76, was a past superintendent at the North Haven Fair Association and past parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in North Haven, Connecticut. Burial with military honors will be held at the Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on May 26, 2022. Contributions in her memory may be made to your local ASPCA or American Cancer Society.
