Obituary of Colonel Joseph F. Leahy Jr. USA Ret
Joseph Francis Leahy, Jr, 91, son of Eleanor and Joseph Leahy, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 2, 2022. He was born in Bronx, NY in 1930.
He graduated from Fordham University and went on to receive his MBA at NYU. He was a retired US Army Colonel of 37 years and enjoyed a successful career with the US Government (Labor Department, HEW, and Department of Treasury). He loved cars, his army career and vacations at the Jersey Shore.
He was married to Margaret Doyle in 1955 and was a long-time resident of Midland Park, NJ. He is survived by his wife and four children, Theresa LaFlam, Maureen Marrone, Andrew Leahy and Daniel Leahy; his daughters-in-law Cathy Leahy and Karla Leahy; his grandchildren Andrew (AJ) Leahy and wife Bethany, Sean LaFlam, Kevin Leahy, Meghan LaFlam, Brendan Leahy, Katie Leahy and Maggie Leahy; and great grandchildren Andrew (Drew) Leahy and Mary Leahy. He was a long-time member of St. John’s Church in Viera, Florida.
The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on April 7th followed by a military ceremony at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
