Obituary of Gwendoline Winifred de Castro

Gwendoline Winifred de Castro left her earthly body quietly at her Melbourne home on February 27, 2022 at age 92. Gwen was born in Philadelphia PA and spent most of her life in Florida, first Miami then Melbourne. She was a Master’s Degree graduate of the University of Miami School of Art, and was recognized as a gifted artist, specializing in portraiture, and was also known for her numerous large paintings of the life of Jesus Christ that may be found in churches across the country. Gwen was a model in her earlier years as well as an actress, and was in TV commercials and had a starring role in a movie. Gwen’s passing was preceded by her husband, Captain Ralph Cheron de Castro and their son Ralph Wesley de Castro. Their surviving child is Christine Yvonne Hatcher who lives in Lake Mary FL with her husband Henry Maurice Hatcher III. Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her two grandsons, Henry Maurice Hatcher IV of Winter Springs, FL and Craig James Hatcher of Avon, Colorado, as well as two great grandchildren Henry Maurice Hatcher V and Hannah Michelle Hatcher of Winter Springs, FL. Gwen and Ralph were members of Hope Episcopal Church, Melbourne, renamed recently as Christ Episcopal Church. Plans for a memorial service are undecided at this time.
