Obituary of Ida Irene Strohaber
Ida Irene Strohaber, 100, born in Alpha, New Jersey on February 18, 1921 was ushered into heaven on February 7, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Frank Strohaber, her infant daughter, Inez and her youngest child, Jim Strohaber.
She leaves behind 4 children, Fran Errickson (Dave) of Lambertville, NJ, Mike Strohaber of Blountville, TN, Lisa Williamson (Steve), Winder, GA and Rita McConn (Rick) of Rockledge, FL, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
She worked as the manager and buyer for the Flemington Cut Glass China Closet in Flemington, NJ, the Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, NJ supporting the war effort as personal assistant to the commander and working on the bomb assembly line. She also worked at Naso Pants Factory in Easton, PA where she sewed pants for the Navy in 1941.
She loved planting flowers, and in her later years became quite the artist painting numerous oil paintings that she loved giving to her family and friends. Ida enjoyed doting on her numerous cats throughout her life. She was an avid cook who enjoyed preparing Hungarian meals for her family. She passed along numerous recipes to all who asked.
She was a long time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cross City, FL where she sang in the choir.
Friends are invited to celebrate her life at this informal, casual gathering at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive, Viera, FL on Saturday, February 19th with a time for informal visitation and fellowship from 1-3 pm and service from 3 pm to 4 pm.
